Pair of Louis XIV style gilded armchairs from Gobelins

This pair of armchairs presented a great structural damage due to the attack of weevils which were still alive when we received them in our workshop. So first of all, we carry out a disinsecting. Then, we re-make the entire system of mortise and tenon so that the structure would had a firm assembly. After assembling and gluing the legs, we proceeded to remake the lost carvings and fill in the pieces hollowed by the activity of the weevils, to provide them consistency and hardness. Finally, all the restored parts were gilded with gold leaf. The upholstery was from the period when these armchairs were made and it was woven in the famous Gobelins manufactory.
