Dutch style table with marquetry

The carcasse of this sumptuous table in the Dutch style is made of solid mahogany. The table is decorated throughout with fine fillets and highly intricate floral marquetry typical of the Low Countries. The table top is ornamented with a molded rail, delicately carved, that allows the table to be move easily. This kind of table was commonly used in the Flemish castles to serve the afternoon snacks in ceremonial rooms during the eighteenth century. The frame conceals a large drawer made of solid French oak.
