This elegant desk, known as « bureau à dos d’ane », is made in walnut wood and beautifully veneered in king wood with diverse inlaid patterns, including reverse diamonds and butterfly-wings, which were especially used in Louis XV style. The desk is opened by a central lock in the sloping flap with a writing surface covered in gold-stamped green leather, disclosing three compartments and five drawers arranged on two levels. There is a secret compartment inside. The desk base is curved on all faces and prolonged by four elegant curved legs ending in brass caps. There are two front drawers with a lock. This piece is finished with French polishing in the traditional way.
